Volunteering in North Carolina with First Descents

I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with First Descents on a one-week program in North Carolina, created for young adults diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The goal of the experience was to introduce participants to the transformative power of adventure—teaching them how to surf, conquer fears, and connect with others navigating similar challenges.

As the official photographer for the week, I was invited to document their journey while encouraging everyone to stay off their phones and fully immerse themselves in the moment. I captured powerful, joy-filled moments—whether they were catching their first wave, laughing during beach breaks, or exploring the beautiful coastal surroundings.

At the end of the trip, each participant received a full gallery of curated, professional images—memories they could print, share with loved ones, or use however they wish. It was a truly meaningful experience for me as well, knowing that my work was part of something deeply healing and empowering.
